3 LESSONS I LEARNED FROM SANTA BARBARA SHOOTINGS

1. Mental Health needs to be more of a priority in the United States demonstrated with commitment to facilities, programs, training of treatment practioners and law enforcement to identify warning signs, and also more adequate monitoring of those with potential to harm themselves or others.

2. Don't bully or ostracize people who are different, lacking social graces, or who are odd. Find a way to extend kindness. This lesson is in no way blaming the victims, but an acknowledgement of how emotionally difficult coming-of-age is for many troubled youth.

3. Kids with guns kill people. It's still far too easy for troubled kids to get guns.

The media's missing the key with the Santa Barbara shootings. I discuss how false, fundamentalist concepts of God are at the root & how religion affects us. Listen to replay of my radio show now at http://tobtr.com/s/6504527. #BlogTalkRadio
